We completely refurbished an old vending machine, inside and out. Replacing the traditional keypad and coin system, guests solved riddles through a web app on their phones to dispense prizes.
The Experience
We featured famous pairs from history, pop culture, and everyday life as the riddles and had guests fill in the second half of the pair. Each riddle had a unique prize associated with it.
How It Works
To play, a user is invited to use a web app on their smartphone. After solving the puzzle, the vending machine rewarded the user with corresponding prize. We use facebook and twitter as an authentication method to ensure no one won more than one prize.
Prizes
We had unique prizes for each of the 24 riddles. An artist designed deck of cards, an R. Kelly cassette tape, and a field note book were some of the prizes included.
